UK strategy to expand onshore wind power
The UK government has launched its onshore wind strategy to boost renewable energy capacity, create up to 45,000 jobs, and support its goal of largely decarbonising the electricity sector by 2030. The strategy includes 40 measures aimed at accelerating project development, such as streamlining planning processes, repowering ageing turbines, and offering community benefits like funding for local amenities. With a current capacity of 16GW, the UK targets 27–29GW of onshore wind by 2030.
