The EU’s climate tech policies require increased creativity to succeed
In an article for Euractiv, Craig Douglas, partner at the World Fund and an advisor to the European Commission on Energy Policy, emphasises that the EU is at risk of lagging behind with strategic climate technologies unless the right incentives and investments are put in place to unlock the potential of European startup companies. He stressed that the amount of capital on the table is too small, and the funding offered by the EU’s Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) is neither ambitious, or creative enough, to deliver the impact needed to ensure European climate tech startups will be able to compete with their global counterparts.
